Annunciation has a fully equipped science lab and a vegetable, fruit and herb garden where teachers bring the wonder of science to reality through a hands on approach to learning.
Annunciation uses the Go Math Series which is a multi-level and interactive program that addresses the various learning styles of students.
Annunciation uses the Journeys Program for Language Arts. Students are exposed to a variety of literature. Teaching students on their reading level benefits the child to progress at his/her own pace.
Students learn in integrated units, allowing teachers to enhance the social studies experience. The students are immersed in a wide range of topics within the classroom. The text book is used as a resources, as well as the internet and primary and secondary sources. The teacher acts as a facilitator or classroom discussions and lectures with student centered learning. There is a wide range of educational opportunities available, preparing students for high school as well as educated, productive citizens.
Religion classes are held every day, for children in preschool through 8th grade. This is a required part of the school curriculum from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The religion text used in Kindergarten is God Loves Us, published by Loyola Press. The religion textbook series used in grades 1-8 is the Finding God series, published by Loyola Press. Our Art program is led by a wonderfully talented local artist and teacher, Mrs. Kathy Chabot. Students have Art class once a week and enjoy a variety of guest presenters throughout the year (artists, designers, engineers) who challenge them in new ways.
Students in grades K-8 have one full class period each week designated for Foreign Language. Annunciation utilizes the Duolingo Program. This online program allows students to continue learning their chosen foreign language while at home and during free/study time in class.
Annunciation has a strong tradition of music programs where students have had opportunities to participate in many performances at school as well as community events. In addition, students in grades 3-8 are invited to sing in the Children's Liturgical Choir. Students sing at weekly prayer services and monthly Masses.
Annunciation is the recipient of numerous national awards from the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, including: Physical Fitness State Champions, Active Lifestyle Model School, and Physical Activity and Fitness Demonstration Center. Students participate twice weekly in PE Class.
